Interesting study with nitrisinone. Can't read the whole paper due to lack of access, but I'm struggling with how it would help an individual that gets bitten by a malaria-carrying mosquito. It doesn't kill the plasmodium so doesn't prevent transmission if you're bit. And in an area that has endemic malaria, how many people would have to be taking the drug to get any significant level of control of the mosquito population via toxic bites. I think introducing sterilized males will be much more effective--if the goal is to avoid insecticides.
