Being kind and good is becoming a real problem. It’s not genuine kindness and goodness that’s causing all the trouble. It’s the smarmy desperation of high-profile people and institutions to be seen as wonderful that’s leading to futile and stupid gestures, to quote
I thought about the possibility of plausible deniability for Bankman-Fried's parents. However, for me the argument falls through when Bankman-Fried deeded his parents a house in the Bahamas from FTX Trading worth ~$18 million after expenses. FTX was also apparently paying the running costs for the home. So, I think his parents must have had something more than an inkling, and I am interested where the courts will come down on the FTX suit against his parents filed in August.
